Strengthening professional ties – Visit of President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia at the Curia of Hungary

On 22-23 September 2022, Mr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia of Hungary, received the official visit of Mr. Damijan Florjančič, President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia, and his delegation.

The Curia and the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia maintain very active professional relations. In addition to the EU and regional multilateral fora, the presidents and the members of the two courts meet regularly at bilateral visits and meetings, which provide an opportunity to present and compare national responses to the challenges facing the courts and to discuss good practices.

The current discussions focused on issues related to the competences and functioning of the two judicial systems and on projects and changes aimed at improving the administration of justice.

The Slovenian delegation presented the Slovenian Supreme Court project worked out to improve the quality of justice and having been awarded with the Crystal Scales of Justice prize of the Council of Europe, and gave an overview of the planned legislative changes to the competences of the Slovenian judiciary. The Curia of Hungary presented the competences related to the administration of the judiciary and provided information on the uniformity complaint procedure and the experience gained by the Curia on that procedure. The discussions took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
